Guidelines For Prayer Chain Members
“We will give ourselves continually to prayer.” Acts 6:4
I. Incoming prayer requestsA. Prayer requests may come from any source: anyone in need of prayer and/or praise. B. Requests should be telephoned to prayer chain chairperson or to an assistant. C. Include only the amount of information you want communicated.
II. Directions For Prayer Chain Members When Receiving a Call. A. Write down the prayer request verbatim (use notebook for request and date, and also answer and date.) B. Immediately telephone the next person on your prayer chain. If no answer, keep calling down the list until someone answers, thus keeping the prayer chain going. If you get an answering machine, ask them to call back for prayer chain request. C. Pray immediately upon making the telephone call. Don’t leave the telephone until you have prayed, so that you don’t become involved in other things before you have prayed. i. Pray for God’s will (Don’t pray answers, but pray requests). ii. Pray fervently-James 5:16b—you can be the instrument that moves the hand of God. D. Inform the chairperson when answers are received. These will be passed along the prayer chain for praise of God and encouragement of its members. Any information passed along the prayer chain is to be kept confidential.
