CREATING CALM
IN THE EYE OF THE STORM
an arts and conflict transformation program
for young people in grades four thru eightTuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm to 6pm
December 5, 2006 thru January 11, 2007
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3617 N. 48th Street
How do we help young people understand the world around them when there seems to be so much conflict and chaos? Everyday there are stories about people of all ages and backgrounds reacting out of anger or other emotions, making destructive choices, impacting the lives of many. CREATING CALM IN THE EYE OF THE STORM invites youth to explore their conflicts and challenges as they are given tools to deal with emotions such as anger, frustration and envy and address other tensions in their lives. Young people will also be engaged in creating art projects that explore a quest for peace in their lives and the world. CREATING CALM IN THE EYE OF THE STORM teaches participants to use different art forms to express themselves, instead of harmful language and violent behavior. There is no cost to participate in this program. There will not be classes the week of December 24. Snacks will be provided. To register, use the form below and bring it with you to the first class you attend. For more information contact Barb or Venice at (414) 445-7447.
