He discovered over 300 uses for the peanut and hundreds more for soybeans, pecans and sweet potatoes. Born in 1864, George Washington Carver had a challenging start to life but grew to be a man who changed the lives of many Black farmers in the South, their families, and all of us through his work at what is now Tuskegee University. The SeedFolks 4-H Club invites you to join us for an afternoon of celebrating the life and work of Dr. George Washington Carver. There will be activities for adults, children and youth as we recreate some of Dr. Carver’s original recipes for cleaning products and much more. Adults are challenged to enter three different cooking contests where we will award $50 each for the recipes for the best tasting(1)sweet potato pie,(2)pecan pie and (3)candied sweet potatoes!

Children are invited to take part in the “Peanut Butter and WHAT?” sandwich creation.
