The Champaign County IL Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is organized to help Thrivent members in their volunteerism.
Like most chapters in this newly-formed organization, we are trying to learn this new system and determine how to best serve the people within our Chapter.
We hope to use this site to inform people in general and Chapter members in particular on what the Chapter is doing, plans to do, and has accomplished. Drop in from time to time and see how we are doing.
Champaign County, Illinois is right in the middle of the flatlands in East Central Illinois -- prime farmland for miles around. With almost 1000 square miles, the County's largest population center is the twin cities of Champaign-Urbana, with 100,000 people between them.
Our chapter is one of nearly 1,400 nationwide chartered local units of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans that brings Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members together for charitable, social and educational activities. Chapters are organized geographically, primarily by county. All Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members belong to a chapter in the area in which they live, which enables them to aid themselves and others through voluntary action.
Each chapter has a leadership board made up of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members who are elected and/or appointed. The chapter leadership board is responsible for allocating funds to service teams for helping individuals and community organizations.
