Community Youth Ministry is planning a Youth Servant Event October 25th through the 26th. The event will be a lock-in at either IMPE or the Champaign YMCA.
The CYM Board has made the decision that to encourage cross-congregational and cross-generational relationship building, a lock-in is a tried and true way to facilitate such relationships.
The theme for this year's lock-in is "A Servant Event". Thus our schedule and focus will be on teaching and equipping those that participate to serve our Risen Lord both on a personal level as well as a congregational and community level.
The planned speaker/musician for this event is Shawn Smith.
The event will start at 9:00AM on Saturday, October 25th, and include Mixers, Small Group Training, Large Group Events, Games, Music, and Servant Events in the Community on Saturday afternoon prior to the concert. The lock-in will end at 9:00AM on Sunday, following our closing worship.

Shawn Smith is a Christian who is driven by an exciting mission: To share the Good News of God's grace in Christ through contemporary Christian music, humor, personal stories of faith and, perhaps most importantly, in his everyday walk with the Lord.
Shawn is a full-time, professional performing songwriter. A nationally recognized musician and key-note speaker, Shawn has been writing and performing contemporary Christian music, and sharing his faith through key-note talks, for over 10 years. An active road-man, Shawn has toured through nearly every state in the Union, and performs over 100 concerts per year. He has led music for the national youth gatherings of both the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and the ELCA, and has performed over 500 concerts at congregations, state-wide gatherings, camps, colleges and schools. In addition to singing and playing keyboard and guitar, Shawn also composes and arranges his own music and programs a variety of electronic doo-dads, and has produced and recorded seven studio albums of original music. From rock to folk to praise, Shawnís events include abundant audience participation, humor and personal stories of faith. Increasingly, Shawn has been invited to give his heartfelt and humorous personal testimonies as a keynote speaker, in addition to serving as song leader at youth gatherings, and at synod and district state-wide gatherings and regional events.
