[Home] [News for Congregational Coordinators]
[[ This double-sided letter was sent out the week of Sept 10th to all Congregational Coordinators. Also included in the email was a listing of the churches in our chapter as well as the remaining funding available THIS YEAR. ]]

September 10, 2003

Hi!

Thank you for serving as a Congregational Coordinator for your church. We as the Chapter Leaders for Champaign County Chapter have set up a training session to help you understand your role as Congregational Coordinator, as well as find out what role you can play in the upcoming elections. This Fall Whistle Stop will be held on Monday, September 29th at 6:30 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Urbana.

The big news in the upcoming month is that we are holding a chapter-wide FREE luncheon and election of officers on October 19th at the Chancellor Convention Center in Champaign. As part of the Luncheon and Election we would like to spread the word as to what we do as part of the Thrivent team in Champaign County by having posters for the various events that have been funded partly with Thrivent money. We are asking the people who ran the events to do either of the following: Come up with a poster giving details of the event, possibly including pictures; or write a paragraph describing the event and telling how it helped your church or community and get that (and any pictures if possible) back to me.

We would appreciate it if you would coordinate with the other CongCoords from your church to ensure that the bulletin announcements are inserted in your church bulletins. You can view these at: http://champaignchapter.org/r.php?election and cut and paste directly from there. A supply of color bulletins will be available at the whistle stop for you to take home to your church. One option is for your church to print the announcements from the website on the back of these, then insert them in your bulletins.

To prevent more stamps being used, I've set up an email list for information of this sort to go out to you, the leaders in your church. Please contact me if your email address isn't listed at the top of this letter, and I'll add you to this list. You can view postings to this list at http://champaignchapter.org/r.php?congcoord

We are looking for people to serve on the chapter board for the 2004 calendar year - if you or someone you know might be interested in this position, please contact Walter Pierce or any of the other chapter leaders or email nominate @ champaignchapter.org.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter,
In Christ

You're Invited to a Fall Whistle Stop!

Do you have questions about your role as a Congregational Coordinator?
Have you ever asked yourself?

  • What's my job description?
  • How do I apply for Care in Congregations dollars?
  • What is my part in the fall elections?
  • Can we do projects in the community?
  • Where do I go for answers to my questions?

If so, your Champaign County Chapter Leaders have organized just the informational meeting for you. A Lutheran Community Service team member will be at this meeting to answer your questions about the new Care Programs available in 2003.

All Congregational Coordinators or anyone interested in answers to these questions are cordially invited to attend.
