The church is on the North-East corner of 6th and Chalmers. There's a small parking lot in front of the building on Chalmers, and parking is available in two university lots -- across 6th street from the church or on the south-west side of 6th and Chalmers (kitty-corner from the church). Don't park in the gravel lot across Chalmers as you will be towed.

Enter the building through the Student Center door on the Chalmers side, next to the church parking area. The meeting room is downstairs.

Congregational Coordinators
The Congregational Coordinators for this church or any church in Champaign County are welcome to attend starting at 6:00PM to get any questions answered by the Champaign Chapter board. We Hope to See You There!
We hope to see all board members and any interested congregational coordinators or financial associates there!

The following are the minutes from this meeting

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY THRIVENT CHAPTER MINUTES

The April 2004 meeting of the Champaign Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans was called to order at 6:30PM at University Lutheran Church in Champaign.  Judy, Norm, Paul, Erwin, Bobbie Richey, Bruce, Darrell and Rick Craig were in attendance, Ronda Craig (St John Champaign's Congregational Coordinator) and Laura Huth and Ron Lyman from Habitat for Humanities.

HfH had a presentation regarding their program and regarding the Lutheran Build that Region has donated $10,000 towards.  A steering committee needs to be formed of about 10 to 12 people who will manage this.

It was M/S/C to add new members to our chapter.

Minutes for the previous meetings The minutes for March of 2004 were reviewed; it was M/S/C to approve the minutes.

Financial Report -- CYM has been finalized.  23,810 is left in Community funding.  It was established that the CongCoord training would be held May 4th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Urbana.  Paul will take care of refreshments.  We decided to move the May meeting to this evening so we don't have to come out on two evenings for May.

Chicken Dinner: Two door prizes from area resteraunts need to be purchased.  We need displays regarding the various things that Thrivent does in the community.  Judy passed around a sheet asking for volunteers for 8-2PM on Sunday, May 16th.

Ross Bendickson is hospitalized due to a stroke; he's still in the hospital at this time.

Nominations for the National BOD are open -- if anyone in the chapter has nominations they need to be submitted.

Projects:

We discussed various Join Hands Day projects for a while, no resolutions. M/S/C $1000 on Emergency Service Team project. M/S/C $1000 for service project to send items to a unit in Iraq M/S/C Belarus project; 50% match to $1200 All God's Children preschool; no information on it yet.

Next meeting: May 4th at 6PM at Trinity Lutheran in Urbana.

Respectfully submitted,

Norm Fisher
