About Our Chapter |
We serve Allegheny County, which includes the City of Pittsburgh and all the other 129 boroughs, townships and municipalities. There are over 100 Lutheran congregations in Allegheny County. With over 10,000 Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members, we are one of the largest chapters in the nation. Despite the physical division by our three rivers, we are united as the "City of Bridges". With all the geopolitical boundaries that exist in Allegheny County, the denominational divides in Lutheranism, and our tendencies to each view our worship location as our "church home", the Chapter provides Thrivent Financial members a means to be compassionate neighbors in a larger community. Please reference the link below for information on the Cares Abounds in Communities program. Along with Lutheran congregations in the area, members join together to have fun, learn and make a difference through social, educational and volunteer activities. In 2009, 222 activities were conducted by the Chapter's members, resulting in 53,517 volunteer hours. Funds raised by local teams totaled $235,762, which were combined with $149,038 from Thrivent Financial to multiply the good we do together.

| OFF TO A GREAT FINISH .... |
|
Our Chapter continues to have an impact in our communities. We, the Allegheny Chapter Board, are volunteers who are charged with fostering the charitable activities of Thrivent members in Allegheny County. We, all the 10,000+ Thrivent members in Allegheny County, have the opportunity to serve the Lord in many ways.We are determined to continue the progress we made in 2009, using all of our allocated funds to support projects in Allegheny County. We are developing ideas for activities and events to support Thrivent's emphasis for 2011. Watch our site for updates and opportunities to serve one another, thereby serving the Lord. |
