about us

Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church is set in Galt, CA, in the midst of a quiet residential area just south of Sacramento. The congregation began in 1949. We are currently in a transition period and our interim pastor is Jonathan Kibler McCabe. We have recently severed are ties with the ELCA and have joined the American Association of Lutheran Churches (AALC). We have Sunday School, for the little ones, through the end of May. We have a choir that meets an hour before worship except during the Summer. Worship is on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am. We enjoy a traditional Lutheran liturgical worship service. We welcome visitors of all ages and look forward to meeting you as we worship God together.

Our Mission: To proclaim the Gospel of Christ through joyful worship, quality Christian education, community outreach and caring fellowship.

Means to accomplish our mission:
One of the primary ways we can reach unchurched people and nourish our existing membership is through the weekly worship services. Here we provide a comfortable place for people to come together to hear and study the word and receive the Sacraments. We will, therefore, take specific actions to increase our worship attendance by visitors and existing members by offering a variety of worship experiences, both traditional and contemporary.
In addition to Sunday worship, we will develop and implement programs that respond to the needs of unchurched people as well as existing members.

Mount Cross
