News From/About Our Congregation
We are current on our contributions to synod benevolence, $15,771 as of August 1. We made monthly payments the first of each month. The council moved to suspend the next 4 payments so that the treasurer has enough to cover his needs.

Confirmation for Gabe DeMumbrum and Dakota King will be October 25th, Reformation Sunday at
10:15am.

Since this is the last newsletter for a while, Christmas Eve worship is 6:30pm and 11pm on December 24. Advent Vespers are December 2, 9, and 16 at 7pm with a meal together at 5:30pm.

Thank you to Brian Holmblade, who cut the red cedar 10 years ago & made the maypole per Vera Green’s instructions & who put it up last week. Thanks to Jenny Lynn Girvan who taught me how to dance in her kitchen, and who led the children in sweet Swedish dance. Thank you to Ken Bernhardt, whose staple gun made it all possible. Thank you to Mary Gallihugh, who stood by to assist. Thanks to all the moms, grandmas & grandpas who made sure the children got to church.

If you are trying to reach Pastor Ogden on a weeknight, you are always welcome to call his home. However, you may have better luck if you first try the church (893-5745) or his cell phone (750-6591), as he usually has meetings in the evenings. Due to work and school schedules, we would prefer if you not call the house after 10 p.m. But please NEVER hesitate to call anytime, day or night, in the event of an emergency ( death, hospitalization, etc. ).

Tyler Harris Lamiman was presented for the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on Sunday, August 9, 2009.

Hello!
I’ve been meaning to write for quite some time now. We are beginning to become settled in our new place.
The trip down here was long and uneventful. When we arrived we were met by my niece, her friends, my great-nephews, my son-in-law and granddaughter. (My son, daughter and grandson had come up to Michigan.) Unloading the U-haul truck was done very quickly! (There is truth to the saying “Many hands make light work.”)
The kids went down to the creek. They were told not to get muddy. They came back wet! I will quote my grandson “ You said do not come back muddy, we are just wet!” “So you can’t yell!”. Will you tell everyone I said Thank You for all the prayers for a safe trip. My new address is:
Susan Katzwinkel
904 Illinois Avenue
Mendota, Illinois 61342
My new telephone number is: 815-539-5340
Your friend,
Susan Katzwinkle

Hi,
I spotted a picture of a Lebanon Youth Group T-shirt on the ELCA website. Kudos to whoever designed them. Hope the trip was a good experience. One of the videos said some attendees had a more rewarding work experience than others who sat a long time on a bus. I can’t imagine what it is like to be part of a 35,000 gathering and having to be shuttled around a city to various locations. I did watch part of the streaming video when Lost and Found performed at the beginning of the mass gathering one evening.
Love,
Marti Ogden

A large expense in any household is the need for paper products. Our kitchen here at Lebanon is in need of the following items: Commercial size coffee filters, paper plates, both large and dessert size. Plastic forks, and paper napkins. We are also in need of sugar packets. If anyone would care to donate these items, it would be greatly appreciated.
