We are excited to announce the 2006 Care in Regions grant opportunity from Michigan Region 265. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans offers its members opportunities to care for others using one of three Care Programs. They are Care in “Congregations”, “Communities”, and “Regions”. The “call to care” begins with the formation of six Thrivent Financial member households eager to be actively involved in a fund raising activity to benefit people in need. All Care in Regions activities in 2006 must be fundraising events and will be supplemented at 33% by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Michigan Region. All Activities must have a minimum funds raised of $100 and we will supplement up to a maximum of $1600.00. Example: ($4849.00 at 33% = $1600.00 maximum funding)This years Care in Regions program will serve the critical needs of the ill, elderly, unemployed or homeless by:
• Congregations and their organizations
o Special critical needs funds or programs within a congregation
o Parish Nurse critical care situations
o Food panties or other shelters, food or programs for the homeless
• Community
o Medical clinics or medical organizations that provide critical care or assistance
o Food pantries
o Shelter, food or other programs for the homeless
Grants are available beginning January 20, 2006 through the Manager of Lutheran Community Services office in Frankenmuth, MI and chapter leaders. Requests need to be submitted to the Manager of Lutheran Community Services at 544 N. Main St., Frankenmuth, MI 48734, no later than October 15, 2006 and activities must be completed no later than November 15, 2005.
Grant review criteria:
25% Compelling need for financial support
25% Volume of Thrivent Financial member engagement
25% Degree to which project addresses critical need of recipient
25% Level of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans visibility from the project
