Chapter Activities
From holding a community-wide auction to raise funds for a child with cancer, to building a handicap-accessible play area at a local park, our members make a difference every day through our chapter system. 3,150 activities were conducted by Thrivent chapters in the Indiana Region, resulting in 522,172 volunteer hours. Funds raised by local teams totaled $2,979,657, which were combined with $1,361,831 from Thrivent Financial to multiply the good we can do together.

GivingPlus Program
Through this program, which ended in 2009, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and its subsidiaries added $1 to every $2 members gave to eligible Lutheran educational institutions or outreach ministry organizations. 130 Lutheran organizations received $1,867,117 in supplemental funds based on contributions from 8,353 Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members in the Indiana Region.

Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity
The total financial impact in the Indiana Region was $991,847 with fifteen homes being built. See the Thrivent Builds section below for more information.

Other Impact
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans added $23,588 to its impact in this region through grants awarded to Lutheran and community organizations and by supporting additional volunteer and outreach efforts.

Working in partnership with Habitat for Humanity in 2009, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans contributed $828,171 to support Thrivent Builds projects in the Indiana Region. Our members raised an additional $163,676 and committed 18,056 volunteer hours to help build 15 homes. Thank you to all the people who helped support this important initiative!

Each day, thousands of children die from malnutrition, starvation and hunger-related diseases. This year, more than 2,700 members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and the local community came together to respond to this incredible need.

Donning hairnets and caring hearts, these volunteers stood side-by-side at various venues like the Ft. Wayne TinCaps Baseball stadium and Valparaiso’s Athletic Recreation Center to pack more than 650,000 nutritionally rich meals consisting of rice, soy, vitamins, and dehydrated vegetables with Kids Against Hunger.

Well over 6,000 volunteer hours were spent helping to make this an historic year for Thrivent Financial and Kids Against Hunger. In September, 400 volunteers at Valparaiso University packed over 107,000 meals making it the largest Kids Against Hunger food packing effort ever in Indiana. The meals packed throughout the year were divided between Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio food pantries and countries such as Haiti and Kenya.
