| | Thrivent Builds Worldwide | | | From Alaska to Zambia, Thrivent Builds Worldwide volunteers are working together with members of host communities to build simple, decent, affordable homes for the world's 1.5 billion people who lack shelter. Every Thrivent Builds Worldwide trip is a one-of-a-kind adventure. Trips last one to three weeks and include work, free time, local tours and outdoor activities. Costs vary and do not include airfare. Volunteers immerse themselves in another culture and make a difference in lives of families. And the best part for Thrivent Financial members is that as a part of the Thrivent Builds program, benefit members have an $800 benefit to support them when embarking on an experience!
On Thrivent Builds Worldwide trips, volunteers travel to parts of the world, including places within the U.S., where residents face critical housing needs. Volunteers work side by side with other volunteers to build simple, decent, affordable homes. Homeowners make a modest down payment, volunteer their own labor, and buy their homes with no-profit loans. Their mortgage payments are then used to build more homes in areas of the world where residents face critical housing needs. Thrivent Builds Worldwide trips are an exciting way for individuals to make a difference, all while enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime experience and creating lifelong memories. Trips include free time to enjoy local attractions and outdoor activities, and many team leaders will plan tours of the area within their schedules. | The first Thrivent Builds Worldwide team in Cluj, Romania |

| In June 2006, Kelsey Peterson, the former Indiana Region's Lutheran Community Services Specialist, led a Thrivent Builds Worldwide trip to Guanajuato and Valle de Santiago, Mexico. The team of eight Lutherans from Indiana, Illinois and Minnesota spent 10 days together, helping constuct parts of four homes in the small community called Carmelitos Chico. Erin Gladstone, the Indiana Region's Marketing and Data Manager, also was a part of the group. They had a wonderful time together, making a difference.Click here to view a Photo Album on Kodak Gallery from the Thrivent Builds Worldwide trip to Mexico.
