Volunteer Position Descriptions |
The following information provides a brief description of the various volunteer opportunities available at the 2007 Indianapolis Air Show. Shift times and length may vary, with most assignments requiring 3 – 4 hours. Volunteers should consider the physical demands of each role. Every effort will be made to provide rest and refreshment for volunteers as needed. A positive, flexible attitude is important in assuring the success of this event. All volunteers are required to report to the Volunteer Check-In Tent no later than 30 minutes prior to the beginning of their assigned shift. Remember, each of these roles is critical to the success of the Air Show. We want you to enjoy the entire experience the Air Show offers, including front row seating, food, and beverages at the Thrivent hospitality chalet. However, our first and most important responsibility is carrying out the necessary volunteers tasks outlined below.

Admissions Volunteer |
|
Shift lengths may vary from 3 – 5 hours. Admissions volunteers will sell and collect admission tickets at the Air Show’s five admission gates. Responsibilities also include guiding cars to various ticket lanes, ensuring that all monies are properly handled and accounted for, and verifying that each person admitted has a valid ticket. Admissions volunteers will be on their feet and in direct sunlight during the entire shift. |

Parking Guide |
|
Shift lengths may vary from 3 – 4 hours. Parking Guides will direct cars from Admissions Gates to specific parking areas. Cars will be directed along a pre-determined path. Parking Guides will also be on their feet and in direct sunlight throughout their shift. We recommend that you bring sunscreen and a hat. |

Chalet/Flight Line Volunteers |
|
The work assignments associated with these areas include chalet check-in stations and hospitality for corporate seating. These areas will be staffed continuously from 8 AM – 5 PM. Workers will check tickets to determine proper access to special areas and affix wristbands when needed. Volunteers will also keep the area clear of trash, wipe off tables and chairs, work alongside catering company to manage supplies and perform other hospitality duties as requested. A polite, friendly attitude is expected at all times. Most of the assignments take place under tents, providing some protection from the sun. We still recommend that you bring sunscreen and a hat. |

Additional Set-up/Clean-up Volunteers |
Work crews are needed to assist with a variety of set-up and clean-up needs both prior to the show and immediately following it. On Friday, August 24, volunteers are needed to help set-up admission gates, parking areas, signage, fencing and other items. Clean-up work is also required immediately following the Air Show and both Monday, August 27 and Tuesday, August 28. Clean-up responsibilities include stacking tables and chairs, removing posts and signage, disassembling fencing and many other needs. The work on these days can be physically demanding, but it is necessary to have a successful event. Hours are flexible, but volunteers will be needed throughout each day. Volunteers assisting with these special needs will receive admission to the Air Show and the Thrivent hospitality tent either Saturday or Sunday.
