2008 chapter leader training teleconferences were held in January. We encourage all leaders to listen to the "New Chapter Leader Orientation" pre-recorded teleconference conducted by the home office. "Role Specific" teleconferences were hosted and recorded by the Rocky Mountain Region Lutheran Community Relations team. If you did not get a change to listen to the live teleconference, we can send you a CD recording. Please contact Julie VanderPlas, Director of Volunteer Resources, at julie.vanderplas@thrivent.com.
Below is the Orientation document and the Role Specific Power Point presentations that are referenced during the teleconferences. (You must have Microsoft PowerPoint installed on your computer to view the role specific presentations)
70 leaders attended the training event in Watertown, SD on February 3 even though there was a -37 degree wind chill factor. Marcie DeGroot-Flash was a special guest from the Appleton office. Financial Representative, Shelly Born presented a role-play on the Advisory Process with two chapter leaders.
Brad Meyer spoke to about 80 Chapter Leaders on February 17 in Sioux Falls about the opportunities available to join a Professional Team of Financial Representatives. Aaron Ellingsen, Financial Representative went through the connect phase of the Advisory Process with Chapter Leaders Kent Harnish and Adam Heinitz. Tommy Schmitz, Narcotics Division, Sioux Falls Police Department, spoke to the Chapter Leaders on our Eastern Plains Regional Cause which is Drug Awareness and Education. His presentation was well received. 53 of our chapters in Iowa and South Dakota will focus on this cause using Care in Regions dollars to supplement fund-raisers and conduct educational activities in their chapters.
