Caring For Our Communities
Care in Communities: Touching Lives
The Care Abounds in Communities program provides resources for you to connect to other members as well as funding for you to meet important needs in your community. But the benefits of this unique program are far-reaching—and far more powerful.

It calls you and other members to:

Join together, through grassroots volunteerism, unified by a common goal: to make a difference.
Live out your values, reflecting the mission of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Change lives and build a stronger community.

A Glimpse at How it Works
In January of each year, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans makes Care Abounds in Communities program dollars available to each chapter for that year.

The dollars are used to supplement money raised by a community service team at a fund-raiser or to pay for the materials needed by a community service team to perform a hands-on service activity.

Care Abounds in Communities® gives you and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans the opportunity to multiply the good we do by working together to have a profound influence across our nation.

2009 Chapter Approved Hands on Service and Fundraisers
Matamoros Mexico Hands on Service Activity

Kristi Bramlett in Matamoros Mexico helping with vacation Bible School.
From February 22-28th members of our Iowa County Chapter traveled to Matamoros Mexico to minister to the poor, visit orphans, share bible stories through Vacation Bible School, purchase and distribute school and health supplies to needy families, and share God's unending love for us all. $800.00 was approved by the chapter board to assist in the purchase of these supplies.
Feed My Starving Children Hands on Service
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals designed specially for starving children, and FMSC ships the meals to more than 60 countries around the world. Your chapter board has approved $800.00 in funding to assist in purchasing food to be packed and loaded on semi trailers by volunteers from April 1 through April 3 at Hidden Valley Church at 605 Bennett Rd in Dodgeville. Contact Cherie Rudesill at 608-930-0208 or cherwi@mhtc.net for more inofrmation on how you can help.
