January 19th, 2009 7:00 P.M.

The regular monthly meeting of the South Goodhue County Chapter of
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans was called to order by President Mary Tri
at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota at 7:00 p.m.on Monday, January 19
2009.

Present: Mary Tri, President; Bob Rosenquist Jr., Vice-President;
JoEllen Voxland, Records Director; Kelly Thiem , Financial Director;
Yvonne Raasch ,Asst. Financial Director; Shirley Perrotti ,Events
Director; Geraldine Thumann ,Congregational Service Team Director; Joan
Zemke ,Community Service Team Director; Carol Frederixon ,Youth
Director;
Absent: Richard Ellingsburg ,Commications Director

Shirley moved and Yvonne seconded to accept 7 new members. Motion carried

Kelly moved and Bob seconded to accept the minutes of the December 15,
meeting as printed. Motion carried.

Bob moved and Shirley seconded to approve the Financial Report handed out
by Kelly and Yvonne. Motion carried, showing $0.00 balance in Care Abounds
in Communities Funds, $5492.70 in our Operating funds Detail Summary, and
$11782.84 in our Goodhue County Thrivent Checking Account. There was $0.00
used from our Operating Funds.

BUSINESS

*Thank you cards were received from Gerry and Wendy Strumph & Mark Murray.
*Shirley will be the internet advisor and maintain the website.
*Gerry moved and Yvonne seconded the motion to stay with the 3rd Monday
night of each month for our regular monthly meetings. They will be held at
7:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota â?" switching to 7:30 p.m.
starting in April for the summer Months.
*Mary reported that our Chapter Builder position needs to be filled.
*Kelly reported that she will contact Julie and Nanci to do the year-end
audit at Brian Hale's office.
*Gerry reported that the date set for the Appreciation/Training Event
April 19th-25th Volunteer week is OK.
*The question was raised as to how often we should send out newsletters?
*Shirley reported on last years events and discussion followed with board
deciding on Twins Baseball game, Honkers Baseball game, and summer picnic
that is held the Thursday after the 4th of July, the Chanhassen is a
maybe. Other places that were suggested to take the Chanhassenâ?Ts place are
the Sheldon Theatre, Lanesboro Theatre, or the Plymouth Playhouse. Doing
the Boat Ride again was a no. Shirley will take these all into
consideration and is looking for more suggestions.
* The Board had discussion pertaining to funding guidelines. It was
decided that the deadline for submitting requests will be 2 to 3 weeks
before the event. Joan will be notifing the applicants. Kelly will take
care of the collection, depositing and paying of funds. Yvonne will be
responsible for entering the information. Guidelines for funding will be
$1.00 for $1.00 on any medical requests up to $1200.00 max.
Organizational requests have a $1000.00 max. The board also decided that
ALL applications need to be discussed and decided on at the regular
monthly board meetings.
*Shirley moved and Kelly seconded the motion to accept the policy and
guidelines for operating guidelines. Motion carried.
*Yvonne moved and Shirley seconded to give Christ Lutheran Church a
$200.00 donation.
*Shirley moved and Carol seconded to give each congregation $100.00 from our
operating expenses. It was reported that 17 of the 23 congregations last year
used their monies.
*Bob moved and Gerry seconded to give the outgoing board members 1-2 yrs.
of service $25.00, 3-4 yrs of service $50.00 motion carried.
Jan Sween, Adele Trent, Tomine Erredge, and Ronnelle Schulz all receive
$25.00, Gwen Stehr to receive $50.00.
*Gerry moved and Kelly seconded the motion for our Chapter to Donate a
$75.00 check to the Russ Clevengar family to be used towards a tree. Kelly
will take care of getting a card and sending it to family.

FUNDING REQUESTS:

Bob moved Gerry seconded to approve the request for Pine Island Post Prom
at Applebeeâ?Ts on Feb. 28, 2009 at $.50 cents on the dollar up to a maximum
of $1,000.00
Motion carried.
Shirley moved and Carol seconded to approve the request for the Pine
Island Area Home Services on April 19, 2009 at $.50 on the dollar up to a
maximum of $500.00
Motion carried.
Bob moved and Gerry seconded to approve the request for the Mazeppa Lions
Club on Feb. 21, 2009 for $1.00 for $1.00 up to a maximum of $1,000.00
Motion carried.
Shirley moved Yvonne seconded to approve the request for Zumbrota/Mazeppa
Education Foundation on Feb. 7, 2009 at $.50 on the dollar up to a maximum
of $500.00
Motion carried.
Gerry moved and Bob seconded to approve the request for the Wanamingo
Lions Club on Feb. 5, 2009 at $.50 on the dollor up to a maximum of
$450.00
Motion carried, pending getting approval for funding of concrete tables.
Joan will look into that.

Bob moved and Kelly seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion
carried

Next meeting will be held and 7:00 p.m.at Christ Lutheran Church on Monday
Feb 16th 2009
