Thrivent Builds

From our Habitat Family Album...
Meet the Musick Family
Casey, Brandon & Makaylah
Lafayette native, Casey Musick, learned about Habitat for Humanity from friends and family members. As a single mother, she looks forward to having a permanent home where she can raise her children. Now she will have something to call her own! Casey has worked as a CNA at the Indiana Veterans Home for 1 ˝ years, although she has been a CNA for 5 years. She enjoys her job and likes to listen to the stories the residents at the Veterans Home have to tell.
At five years old, son Brandon is very active and loves being outside. He enjoys riding his bike and playing on his baseball team. Makaylah is three and does gymnastics. She likes dancing, playing with her dolls, and playing “mommy”.

Please prayerfully consider making a donation to support the Musick home that will be constructed.

Checks are made payable to “Thrivent Builds” with “Tippecanoe County” in the memo line. Place your donation in the envelope provided and drop in the “little house.” A receipt will be provided.

2013 Chapter Funding Guidelines
Tippecanoe County Chapter Guidelines for Care Abounds in Communities Funding Requests - 2013 1) No event/project requests will be accepted until the Thrivent Home Office notifies the chapter about the amount of funding for Care Abounds in Communities projects. In mid-January applicants may contact a chapter leader to find out the amount available. Half of the Care Abounds funds available to our chapter can be applied for January through May, and the other half of the funds will be available for funding requests made from June to October of this year. If funds remain for the November 1-December 1 period, the Board will consider funding requests for new or previous (repeat from 2012) project requests. Request for funding should be made one to two months in advance of the project date. 2) Individuals must wait one calendar year from the project date before submitting the same specific request again. For example, if a project is held in 2012, a similar project by the same group for the same recipient cannot be funded in 2013 unless funds are still available November 1-December 1. 3) The "Request for Funding Questionnaire" needs to be presented in person by a Thrivent member to the Board for discussion/questions before approval can be considered. If the project applicant wishes to receive $500, the project leaders must raise $1000. In other words, a 2 to 1 ratio is to be maintained for fund-raising projects. 4) Those submitting funding requests should look for co-sponsors and funding partners to help sponsor their specific events/projects in an effort to enlist more people involvement. Co-sponsors and funding partners should be clearly noted on the funding request. 5) Board deliberation will take place in closed session after a request is presented. Notification of approval/denial will occur in a timely fashion from the date of the request. 6) The "Report for Funding Activity" report must be submitted to the Financial Director within two weeks following the completion of the project. Ineligible Activities for Care Abounds in Community Projects 1. Activities conducted in foreign countries. (NOTE: The actual fundraisers and gathering of supplies as a service project must be done in the U.S. before a group goes to a foreign country or sends supplies to the foreign country.) 2. Fundraisers or hands-on service activities supporting Thrivent Builds. 3. Activities that have a substantial purpose of promoting sales of products or services, including Thrivent Financial products and services. 4. Member social activities that are open to the broader community (i.e., only Thrivent Financial members and their personal guests may be invited to member social activities). 5. Member social activities that involve collecting fees from participants (must be funded with operating funds). Ineligible uses of funding 1. As a direct grant. 2. Payment of professional services by vendors. 3. Supplies for fundraising activities. If you have questions about the Care Abounds in Communities© program, please contact local chapter leaders or the Fraternal Service Center at 800-236-3736 or email fraternal@thrivent.com.
