About Our Chapter

Thank you for visiting our chapter Web site. Here�s a few things you should know about our chapter.

Our chapter is one of nearly 1,400 nationwide chartered local units of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans that brings Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members together for charitable, social and educational activities. Chapters are organized geographically, primarily by county. All Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members belong to a chapter in the area in which they live, which enables them to aid themselves and others through voluntary action.

Each chapter has a leadership board made up of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members who are elected and/or appointed. The chapter leadership board is responsible for allocating funds to service teams for helping individuals and community organizations.

Muskegon Winter Sports complex 2012

Skate, cross-country ski, sledding and luge event

Muskegon Winter Sports Complex event: Feb. 26 from 4:00pm top8:30pm at the N. Muskegon State Park. Sponsored by Thrivent for Lutherans. Sledding Hill, skating, cross country skiing and luge. Equipment rental and food for $6.00 per person. Hotdogs, chips, hot cocoa and coffee served from 5 - 7:00 pm. Michigan State Vehicle Passport need for state park entrance. Use of the Luge is from 6:15 to 8:15Pm and requires proof of medical insurance. A parent or legal guardian must sign for anyone under 18 yrs.

Muskegon Rescue Mission Hat and Glove Event

The Hat and Glove Event was a huge success, West Central MI Chapter of Thrivent Financial and Menard's partnered with Elizabeth Watson of St. James in Montague together with Trinty Lutheran of New Era. We had 10 Confirmation age, 5 High School age and 8 adults. Both Trinity and St. James had collected many bags of used Hats, Gloves, and Costs, as well.
We met at the Men's Rescue Mission in Muskegon and divided the Men's, Women's, and Children's, articles. This included the $399.65 in new garments provided by Thrivent as well as the used ones.
After a short orientation about the Men's Rescue Mission and how it works, the participants from St James served a meal and handed out what they had to the men. The people from Trinity left for the Women's Mission and after a short orientation about the Rescue Mission and how it works served a meal and handed out their portion of the garments.
The evening was a great success and hopefully has taught a large group of Kids and adults just how fortunate they are.
To see 8 year old Baily, who's favorite color is pink, (She is homeless with her mother and 6 year old brother), get a Black Ski Coat with pink piping along with a new pink hat and gloves says it all.She not only had the coat of her dreams but is really warm now.

Lumberjacks Family Hockey Night

November 19th game starts at 7:00pm at LC Walker Arena.
Join with our area Lutheran Churches and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for an awesome night of hockey.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is covering � of the ticket costs for this game.
You must contact your church office to pay for your tickets. Ticket will be picked up at LC Walker Arena the night of the game. You must order your tickets by November 13th.

Ticket prices: Adults: $5, youth ages 12 to 18 and Seniors $4, and kids ages 3 to 12 $3

Chapter Annual Meeting and Election

There will be a special gift drawing for Congregational Advocates and Pastors

June 2011 Board Meeting

Two applications were approved at the June Board Meeting. Grace Lutheran on Shettler Rd., will host the fourth annual Country Fest and Cruz in. This starts on 8/28/2011 at 10:00AM with a worship service and ends at 3:00PM. they will serve hamburgs and hot dogs with games. Contact Rev. Timothy Winkel at 231-740-4237 for information.

The second application was for the Grief Recovery Program to be held at First Lutheran Church on Whitehall Rd. the program is intended for all those who are experiencing any kind of grief- death, divorce, loss of job, health issues, loss of home, etc. Contact Sylvia Koski at 231-744-0822 for information.

Thrivent Night at Muskegon Winter Sports Complex 2011

The pictures below are from the Ski/Skate/Luge night sponsored by The West Central Michigan Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. It was attended by 70 members who enjoyed the use of the entire facility at the North Muskegon State Park. The price of admission included use of skates, skis, the luge and refreshments served by the local Thrivent Financial Reps.
