God's Beauty in Nature - Mount Rainier
Anchor of Hope Community Church

Anchor of Hope Community Church meets at the Sons of Norway Hall in Stanwood, WA. We are a small group that continually seeks ways to grow and spread God’s word in the Stanwood area. Not having our own building means that worship supplies and equipment have to be portable. Some of our Thrivent matching funds requests revolves around this need. Worship enhancement equipment such as a laptop computer & projection screen for praise and worship songs, music and sound equipment, and interior decorations to present an overall better worship atmosphere are what we are currently looking into. We also used Thrivent matching funds to send kids to the District Bible Camp and outreach ministries in Stanwood. Being a small congregation with limited resources we are very thankful for the programs and funds that Thrivent makes available.

Atonement Free Lutheran Church

Atonement has been blessed to have a strong youth ministry which has solid Christian discipleship as its primary focus. In addition to the weekly meetings which include worship and practical Bible teaching, the Atonement youth are involved in ministry both inside and outside the church – often assisting in helping people move, doing yard clean-up, or reaching out to the community. Music is another strong ministry at Atonement. Many have appreciated the balance of traditional hymns and contemporary choruses as well as the use of many orchestra instruments for accompaniment. The primary characteristics of Atonement, however, are dedication to reaching souls for Christ, fervent prayer, and an emphasis on family.

Camano Lutheran Church - Established 1890

"As God's people we are committed to Sharing Christ's love, Growing in faith, Serving neighbor near and far" That's the current mission statement of Camano Lutheran congregation. Organized in 1890, the congregation today has some descendants of members of the first years. The first meetings near the present site were in the public school atLivingston Bay, and that building is now the Pioneer Hall at the church. The multi-purpose building was begun in 1979. Pastor Scott Brents was welcomed to the ministry of Camano Lutheran in the Spring of 2006. The congregation offers two Sunday services, using music styles different from one another. Youth of the congregation will participate with Bethel Lutheran Church at Biloxi MS in continuing ministries related to Hurricane Katrina. Four adult Bible Study groups meet monthly. Congregation members participate in the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank, support of Camp Lutherwood and Josephine Home. Quilters meeting weekly produce not only quilts, but also child care and education kits for Lutheran World Relief, and also local distribution. A "Care Team" seeks to fill needs for church and community neighbors. Two special programs are the Camano Child Care for 40 or more children (ages 2 1/2 to 10) each day; and the Camano Lutheran Pre-School serving 3,4,5 year old with classes on four days each week.

Chapel on the Hill

Chapel on the Hill Lutheran Church is a mission congregation located in the
Cascade foothills of the Pacific Northwest.
Reverend Loring Younce felt a call to bring the Gospel to the little town
of Granite Falls, WA. He, and later Pastor Al Schudde served the community in a
loaned vacant house which has become legendary as "the little brown house with
the leaky roof".
During the ministry of Kyle Castens, a store-front in town was rented, and
finally Pastor Kyle Heck led in building a small sancturary on donated land.
At that point a congregational member, James Kyes, realized a call to study
for the Lay Ministry. He now serves Chapel on the Hill as Vicar while
continuing his studies in the DELTO (Distance Education Leading to Ordination -
Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri) program.
Since inception the little congregaion has been host to 79 baptisms, 44
confirmations, 16 marriages and 11 memorial services; one young man is also
seriously considering the ministry.
The congregation is presently working toward solidifying a yearly calendar
of events - seeking to balance worship and study, with fellowship and service.

Freeborn Lutheran Church

Freeborn got it's start at the beginning of the 1900's and is 100 years old. It's early members were the Norwegians that settled the area and many of those families still have members in the church today. Our pastor is Carl Schwinck. Our worship service is at 10:00 am followed by a coffee hour. Over the past five years Freeborn has purchased the farm across the street from the church with the hope of making a facility that will serve the community in the next 100 years as it has in the past 100 years. Our preschool is extremely successful and filled to capacity. Ladies' Aid meets regularly and Lutheran World relief quilting is very productive.
