Thank you for visiting East King County Chapter Web site. Here’s a few things you should know about our chapter. Our chapter is one of nearly 1,400 nationwide chartered local units of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans that brings Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members together for charitable, social and educational activities. Chapters are organized geographically, primarily by county. All Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members belong to a chapter in the area in which they live, which enables them to aid themselves and others through voluntary action.
East King County Chapter (initiated in 2003) geographically covers Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members from 28 Washington Lutheran Churches located in Bellevue, Sammamish, Redmond, Kenmore, Bothell, Woodinville, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Duvall, North Bend, and Issaquah. Of the 28 Washington Lutheran Churches, 25 have the three required Congregational Coordinators allowing these churches to receive Care in Congregations® funding.
Each chapter has a leadership board made up of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members who are elected and/or appointed. The chapter leadership board is responsible for allocating funds to service teams for helping individuals and community organizations.
In our first year, 2003, East King County Chapter allocated over $41,000 to service teams and $7,000 for sponsorships. For the 2004 year, the Chapter allocated $38,823 to service teams and $4,858 for sponsorships and grants. The 2004 service teams raised $79,707! In 2006 and 2007 we were awarded the honor of being a Thrivent Chapter of Excellence.
