About Our Chapter
Thank you for visiting the Miami-Dade County Chapter Web site. Here’s a few things you should know about our chapter.

The Miami-Dade County Chapter is one of nearly 1,400 nationwide chartered local units of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans that brings Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members together for charitable, social and educational activities. Chapters are organized geographically, primarily by county. All Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members belong to a chapter in the area in which they live, which enables them to aid themselves and others through voluntary action.

Each chapter has a leadership board made up of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members who are elected and/or appointed. The chapter leadership board is responsible for allocating funds to service teams for helping individuals and community organizations.

Chapter Mission
    "Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a faith-based membership organization called to improve the quality of life of its members, their families, and their communities. . ."

    The Miami-Dade Chapter will support and promote the general mission of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, fostering and enhancing economic interests and quality of life through service to its members, their families, congregations, and their communities, seeking always to encourage volunteers to make a difference in the lives they touch.


Goals - 2006
As a means of fulfilling this mission, the goals of the Miami-Dade Chapter for 2006 are:
  1. Increase the number of Congregational Coordinators, with the ultimate goal of filling every position.
     
  2. Communicate opportunities, and facilitate participation in all activities for congregations and volunteers. Utilize:
    • Chapter Mailing Service, sending three Newsletters, in addition to the Election Information Letter/postcard
    • Congregational Coordinator Newsletter Service
    • Expanded use of Web Site.

  3. Involve all members and member congregations in the positive activities and service opportunities available, thus increasing volunteerism among its members and community awareness of Thrivent's contributions to benefit all its citizens.
     
  4. Engage all congregations in Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity.  Assist the Thrivent Builds Specialist in recruiting Congregational Champions and volunteers.
     
  5. Conduct the Annual Congregational Coordinator Training Program.
     
  6. Recognize Congregational Coordinators, Pastors and other Volunteers.  Recognize the Service/Care Project of the Month on the Chapter Web Site.
     
  7. Partner with Financial Associates to visit each congregation, prioritizing those congregations not served by coordinators.  Provide for on-site training when requested.
     
  8. Support the Care initiatives of the Florida RFO including, but not limited to: Hurricane Relief and "Click for a Cure."
     
  9. Develop and support initiatives that provide opportunities to make a difference in the community and in the lives of others including:
    •  TRAK - Thrivent  Random  Acts of  Kindness
    •  "Click for a Cure" - Breast Cancer Initiative
    •  Join Hands Day
    •  Miami-Dade Thrivent Youth Ambassadors
    •  Thrivent Builds
       
  10. Recruit and plan for 2007 Elections for the Leadership Board.  Develop a plan for succession.
