Duluth Chapter Presents Checks for Local Events

The 3rd annual Rhubarb Festival raised more than $17,000 in support of various projects at CHUM. Receiving the check were CHUM board members (l-r) Pastor Greg Garner, Neil Glazman and (far right) David Clanaugh, CHUM Development Director. Chapter board members Brian Sorvik and Bernie Bernham presented the check.

The Duluth Area Chapter recently presented a check for $1,600 to the Save Our Ship fundraiser. Board members (l-r) Brian Sorvik and Zelda Cherne presented the check to SOS chairman Neill Atkins and SOS treasurer Dwight Nelson. Elaine Almquist, Concordia Lutheran Church, helped with the event.

Join Hands Day Through the Years
In 2008, Join Hands Day in Duluth worked at Bethany Crisis Nursery. About 26 youth and adult volunteers from seven local Lutheran churches transformed the recreation room and an adjoining sitting area. Two additional crews went on a shopping spree to replenish supplies such as diapers and ping-pong nets and balls, and toilitries that were later assembled into 50 personal kits.

In 2007, Join Hands Day in Duluth focused on the zoo and the Western Waterfront Trail. One group painted picnic tables, while two others erected signs and a fourth group planted a perennial garden in the Western Waterfront Trail parking lot.
