The South Blue Ridge Thrivent Chapter joined hands on May 9, 2009 to clean up and mulch the yard, trim bushes, paint hallways and rooms at the Aaron's House in Shelby, NC. Approximately 35 Thrivent members and Aaron's House adults and children worked hard to beautify the home. Aaron's House (and its brother site, the James Home) provide a safe, nurturing environment for youth, ages 6-21 years in Cleveland County. Each home has a capacity for eight boys and girls who attend public school or is enrolled full time in college or technical school. Living in a family-type setting allows the children to develop healthy relationships, and to work on personal responsibility, good school and work habits as well as spiritual development.
