Cape Fear River Chapter
About Our Chapter
Our mission statement reads: "Enabling Lutherans to do Charitable outreach in their communities."

As one of over one thousand chapters across the country, Cape Fear River Chapter welcomes the opportunity to help congregational members and neighbors. Congregational events have raised funds for people with special needs and major illnesses. Those events bring the larger community together. It is through caring and sharing that our congregations grow and serve.

Several community projects under Care Abounds in Community are underway and some are completed. Thus far through September 2009 the chapter has raised over $30,000 and given 7,435 volunteer hours. This is a busy and dedicated group.

Cape Fear River Chapter looks forward to being named a Chapter of Excellence for the efforts put forth by all members.

THREE COUNTIES WORK TOGETHER
Lutheran Churches in Brunswick, Columbus and New Hanover counties work together on projects and within the chapter. The nine churches encourage one another with their Care in Congregations and Care Abounds in Communities projects. All Thrivent Financial for Lutheran members are encouraged to participate in the various projects and events. Currently we are working together to build a house with Habitat for Humanity and the support of Thrivent Builds financing.
JOIN HANDS DAY
Join Hands Day this past May helped Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Wilmington improve their grounds. A group of people updated the landscaping around the building with flowers where residents and visitors can enjoy them.

It was a wonderful time of fellowship and fun.
