Below you will see the first pictures of our Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity house. The house that we will be working on is located on Pusey Street in the City of Chester. The home is one-half of a two story twin. We will begin working on this house sometime in April, 2008 and expect to have it completed by November, 2008.
As you can see from the pictures the house does need a great deal of work, but is structurally sound. The rear of the house will be demolished and then rebuilt. Comments from Joan Pearson concerning the work that we/you are doing to get the house ready for the new owner: "Here is another successful work day, July 19, at 806 Pusey street. We have 2 sets of volunteers today Maybe I should say 4. Our regulars, Reformation Lutheran from Media, and IBX who has been volunteering with us for some years. I have to note that our board is also extraordinary. We always have at least 1-2 on any given Saturday and sometimes even on a Wednesday you can find a board member working along with our regulars. Today we have 3 helping. All in all a great bunch, a good mix working together in unity and harmony. What can I say? We thank God for our blessings.
I wonder if you notice the progress that is being made as you view each set of pictures. In today's please take note that the basement and back extension are now cemented. In the back yard you can also notice where the machine is that that huge mound of dirt is gone. The crew on Wednesday transferred it to a dumpster. The volunteers are continuing to do what I believe is called parging on the interior walls, not sure this is the correct spelling. Something similar to pointing when it is done on the exterior walls.
As always these volunteers are super special folks and we at Habitat and our partner family sincerely appreciate the time and their skills that help us build the "American Dream called Home". Thanks Joan"
