Immanuel Lutheran Church cemetery is located a mile east of U.S. Highway 45 on St. Francis road. This 2-acre site is where our original church was built, at the time of the congregation's founding in 1850. The land was part of the Geuther family farm, after members of the Geuther family came to the United States from Germany and settled in Frankfort Township. The church remained on that site until 1916, when a new church was built in Mokena, at Cross and Union Streets. Old records of the church and cemetery were in German and have been translated into English. The first recorded burial was in 1851. Currently there are over 125 buried in the cemetery, which is intended for Lutherans, primarily members of Immanuel.
