Pastor Robert R. Wegehoft was born to Lawrence & Beatrice (Hubbell) Wegehoft on January 7, 1939 in Centralia, IL. He received a BA degree in music from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL in 1961; a Master of Sacred Music from Union Theological Seminary in New York, NY in 1963; and a Master of Divinity from Augustana Seminary in Rock Island, IL in 1966. He was ordained in 1966 at Rockefeller Chapel in Chicago, IL by the Lutheran Church in America. From 1961-1963, he was the organist and choir director at St Luke’s Lutheran Church in Farmingdale, NY while he pursued his graduate studies. Following his education, Rev. Wegehoft served as Assistant Pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Moline, IL from 1966-1967; Pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Romeoville, IL from 1967-1972; Pastor of St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arenzville, IL from 1972-1977;January 1977-June 1983: Assistant Pastor and Director of Choirs and Bell Choirs at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Davenport, IA from 1977-1983; and Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clinton, IA from 1983-2003 before becoming the 38th minister at St Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Strasburg, PA in May, 2003. Pastor Wegehoft is married to Irene Finger; and the couple have four children: Debra Theys, Lisa Swartz, John Wegehoft, and David Wegehoft; and six grandchildren: Abby, Haley, Ella, and Zachert Swartz and Benjamin and Rachel Theys. |
