Purpose of this website

Our purpose and dreams
The purpose of this website is to tell the story of our special needs daughter Ruth and the challenges we face daily in helping her learn and develop so that she will be able to grow up safely and function in everyday life as an adult. We also hope that by sharing these very personal glimpses into our lives that we will in some way help others with their own personal challenges.

This website also provides information about several of the things we are doing to raise the funds to pay for all the medical expenses related to raising a special needs child and the never ending financial challenges that we and other families face in a time when the public school system many times does everything they can to limit the public resources that are supposed to be available to assist families with school age children who need endless help and one-on-one attention daily in caring for their child.

And also to tell of my dream for the placement of Henry Ford's X-8 engine, a very rare piece of automotive history I own, into a museum with the funds raised from it going to a long term care fund for our daughter and also part of the money going to help other families.

A personal note from Eli, Ruth's dad . . . (posted 9/17/05)

Hi. This site is dedicated to our ten-year old special needs daughter, Ruth, who is the youngest of my six children. She is in fourth grade this year. Last night, 9/16/05, was a very special evening for Ruth and also for me. She attended her first ever Youth Group meeting for 4th and 5th graders at our church. She played and did projects with the other kids, something she has not been able to handle in the past.

Their project was filling up large cleaning pails with household items needed by the Katrina hurricane families staying here in Austin, Texas. I hung around to be sure she did okay and ended up helping cook the meal and cleaning up afterwards.

These are things we all take for granted as our kids grow up but for Ruth . . . it was a new experience . . . . And for me too!!
Call one of your children today and tell them you love them. Or your Mom or Dad if you're on the younger side. And then ask them something about their day................eli
The stories in my life are hidden through out the paragraphs and pages of this web site............

Does this look like your inner mind some days?
What is your mission in life? Does it change daily?
One more thought before you short cut to the top............
TOP of PAGE . . . Click here to get back to the top. If only it were that easy in life. Where are you headed today? Will you end your day with prayer? One of my most frequent requests of God is for patience. . . . and then for understanding . . . . . of myself and of others : : : : . . . . . ......
