| | Rib Fest held by Lutheran Church Men |
| Friday night, July 12, the fellowship hall at Lord of Life was crowded
with over 60 folks eager to dig into the sumptuous ribs prepared by Master
Chef John Swanson.
John spent most of Thursday and Friday preparing the meal, and it was well
worth all his effort. Over 75 pounds of ribs disappeared in short order,
along with baked beans, breads and melons for dessert. Lamont Jordan made a
trip to Farmers’ Market to assure fresh, homegrown cantaloupe and watermelon.
Clean-up crew and assistants were numerous and everything was shipshape
in short order.
Lutheran Church Men meet every second Friday each month. The August meeting was the planned trip to a Mudcats baseball game (August 9). Watch
the church bulletin for the location and host of the September 13 dinner
meeting. | | |

Christmas in July!! |
Time to care and share
What a tremendous outpouring of love and care for our less fortunate
school children! The Christmas in July tree was stripped of ornaments in
record time and every wish of those small folks were granted with several
"extras” thrown in for good measure. A special thanks goes to Mary Cook for
all her help in locating the children and making sure their school year is no
different than their friends’.
Our commitment to the Samaritan’s Purse project for August is one of
assistance to the Christian Education’s Sunday School curriculum. We are
asking that you bring empty shoe boxes for the children to use when the fall
session starts. If you want to provide items for the boxes, that will help
our children get off to a good start -- to fill a lot of boxes!
