The Priscilla Kruse Family

Gene and Priscilla Kruse
The Eugene and Priscilla (Cil) Kruse family includes two beautiful ladies and four gentlemen. Gene was called Home in 2000 by the Lord he served so many years as a teacher and Principal of LCMS parochial schools.

Priscilla retired from Methodist Hospital when Gene retired from teaching. She had worked at Methodist Hospital as a Registrar for 19 years.

They spent the first three summers traveling in their camping trailer, something the family did together for many years.

Priscilla and Gene spent eight years of their retirement in the ministry of visiting the shut-ins of their congregation in Peoria. Gene was the Lay Minister and is missed by his wife Cil, his family, many friends and the church he served.

All of Gene and Cil's children are married, except for Tim. Cil has 13 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren who love her very much.

The Eugene and Priscilla Kruse Family.

Gene and Priscilla attend first family reunion in Tobias, Nebraska.
Grandpa Beckler has Kathy on his right while Grandma attends to Anita. Gene is holding his oldest son, Steve. Steve snuck into other family photos during the Beckler reunion. Naughty Steve...

Kathy now carries the last name of Logsdon and lives in the Dallas area. Anita took the last name of Koch and moved to Russia where her husband serves as a geologist. They also have a home in Illinois. Steve is in the Minneapolis area and kept his last name.

At this time (1958), Gene and Cil had two more lovely children to go. According to the latest information, Daryl was taking a nap when this photo was taken and not a part of this picture.

At the next family reunion, ask Cil how to beat a 'Shoot the Moon' bid in a card game.

Daughter Kathryn and Ken Logsdon
Daughter Kathryn (Kathy) and Ken Logsdon, have three children (Kyle, Zachary and Nicholas) and live in Plano, TX. Ken is sales manager for TAC and Kathy substitutes at Faith Lutheran where their boys attend school. She has taught in a Lutheran school in Florida, Christ Lutheran in Peoria where her Dad was principal, and Faith Lutheran in Plano, Texas.

Daughter Anita and Bob Koch
Daughter Anita and Bob Koch live in Almaty, Kazakhstan with their son Jeffrey. Bob works as a geologist for FIOC.

Anita has taught in a Lutheran school in Florida and a public school in Houston, TX. She also taught at the International school in Jakarta, Indonesia while they lived there prior to moving to Almaty.

Kazakstan is a former Soviet Union republic, but they do not live in Russia which is another country entirely. Since 1991 Kazakstan has been an independent nation within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). However, the people speak either Russian or Kazak and the Russian culture resides alongside the Kazak culture. And, as Anita explains, both Kazaks and Russian really love their vodka. All which makes for a truly fascinating country.

ANITA VISITS IRAN
The Iranian people were amazingly friendly to us. In the Tehran paper they talked about US hostilities, but on the street people greeted us with smiles. We were stared at more than I've ever been stared at it in a foreign country. We were often asked where we were from. At first I was nervous to say the USA, but I never got a negative response from one Iranian. One told me he was so happy that we had come to their country. Another spoke of our governments being enemies, but as people we are friends. Groups of Iranians would come to talk to us and many wanted their pictures taken with us.
One highlight of our trip was being invited by our tour guide to dinner at his very modern apartment in Tehran. His wife and mother-in-law prepared a scrumptious dinner and his sister-in-law danced for us.We were allowed to take off our scarves because we were in his home. The women were quite modern once they removed their chadors. In Estafan our tour guide invited us to his parents' home where we sat on carpets to eat a traditional Iranian meal. The food in Iran is delicious and is typically fresh vegetables, chicken, beef, or lamb kabobs, and rice. No alcohol is served with dinner, nor can you buy it in stores or restaurants. I imagine they have some black market alcohol available if you knew who to ask

SEA OF CHADOR AT PERSEPOLIS
The trip was a terrific opportunity to see Iran, and I'm really glad I went. It's only three hours away by plane from Almaty and an incredibly cheap place to travel! However it's not a glamorous trip! There are no five star hotels, the dress code for women can be oppressive, and you have to become an expert at using the Asian toilets in the floor!! It's not for the faint of heart. I don't imagine most Americans would be interested in going, but I found it fascinating! And I sure like my new Iranian carpet and gold bangles!

Son Stephen (Steve) and Paula Kruse
Son Stephen and Paula have three children (Chris 19, Matt 17 and Jayme 12) and live in Maple Grove, MN.

Steve is the Executive Vice President for Hansa Underwriters, Inc., a newly formed insurance brokerage firm. Paula is an Executive Assistant for Campbell Mithun, a large advertising agency in downtown Minneapolis. They are both active in their church and school serving as the Youth Leaders and teaching the Youth Bible Class at St. John's Lutheran Church - Maple Grove.

Steve and Paula met in 1977 and were married in Peoria, IL in 1980. They lived in Peoria until 1994, attending the same church/school where Gene taught. After spending one year living in St. Louis, MO, they moved to Minnesota where they've lived for almost six years. Cil misses the fact that they are no longer living in Peoria.

A picture of this family will be added when available.

Son Daryl and Patti Kruse...
Son Daryl and his family live in Rochelle, IL. Daryl is the principal at St. Paul Lutheran school and Patti teaches the second grade. Daryl is a Model Railroader. Train Web Site: www.tbcnet.com/~dpkruse. His school Web Site is www.rochelle.net/~stpaul. They live only two hours from Cil's home in Peoria.

Names of individuals in the photo are, left to right, the lovely Patti (I'm not going to edit what Daryl wrote), Tim-12, Emily-12, Kelly-18, Shannon-20 and the old man Daryl. (This photo was taken Christmas 2000. From now on, you figure their ages...)

Son Timothy (Tim)

Timothy lives in Lynnwood, WA. His love has always been music since he was four years old. He plays and sings in the piano lounge at a swell restuarant, The Third Floor Fishcafe in Kirkland, WA.

Anita and Cil spent a week with him on his Alaska cruise recently. (Editorial note: Wonder if we could have a Beckler Reunion on board?)

I'm going to try to import a picture of Tim at his exquisite piano, but if you loose patience, you can go right to that site http://www.fishcafe.com and view it personally.

(Editorial note: Tim's genes combines the musical genes inherited from the Kruse family, namely, his father Gene, and the donation from the Beckler gene found in Ted. What a talent.)

The Fish Cafe's piano bar was featured in the Eastside Journal American. If you have not yet spent some time at our piano bar, you really owe it to yourself and your guests to drop in for a session with our piano player, Tim Kruse.

Tim Kruse has spent much of his career playing on renowned cruise ships all over the world. Fortunately for us, he now calls Kirkland his homeport. Tim is very pleasant and he never ceases to amaze his listeners with his ability to play any request.
