| | Welcome to Peace Lutheran Church, an ELCA parish here in the heart of the Branson entertainment community. We have wonderful acoustics in our new building, now two years old, and are involved this year in an outreach ministry to our surrounding area to allow local talent to come in and show their stuff. On Mondays, January 16, February 20, and March 19, the third Monday of each of the winter months, when the shows around town are basically shut down, we are hosting a Talent Night, focusing on vocal and instrumental music, but also a bit of variety with a magic act and some comedy included. Southern Gospel music, a bluegrass family band, and acoustic jazz are some of the acts offered. What a wonderful opportunity for new talent in the area, and for talent scouts and show producers to get an idea of what’s out there! There is no admission charge for these events, and everyone is welcome to attend. Throughout the rest of the year, we will offer special events, hopefully once per quarter, focusing on an individual artist or group. And then, next winter, we will again offer our Talent Night series. On a personal note, last summer I was honored by Peace Lutheran Church on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of my ordination to ministry in the Lutheran Church. Again, we celebrated with “A Musical Tribute” and had a number of our local entertainers who came to sing for us. A representative from our bishop’s office in Kansas City was with us to bring greetings, along with several friends and family members. A wonderful catered banquet was provided for us afterward, and all had a great time of fun, food, and fellowship! I was very pleased that a number of folks were able to be here from five different parishes I have served in my career, ranging from Indiana to Illinois to Kansas and Missouri. What a great honor to have them all here in one place. The only bad thing was that I didn’t have any real time to spend with anyone in particular. But it was a great event, and I am deeply appreciative of this loving parish. We welcome you to worship with us and take part in our activities here. We are a vibrant and growing congregation with a warm heart and open, welcoming arms. Check our worship schedule and our location, and come on out!
