PRESCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
Faith Lutheran Preschool's goal is to address the needs of the total child. In doing so, we feel it is of utmost importance to emphasize your child's spiritual needs. We will strive to accomplish this by helping to define what role God plays in your child's life. Secondly, we will actively seek to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that is compatible with your child's level of development.
We realize the importance of addressing all the different avenues of learning to enrich your child's life and we will provide a God centered environment that is inviting, nurturing, and productive to promote spiritual, social, physical, emotional, and intellectual growth.
Our program provides a place where children are encouraged to be successful according to their own capabilities and grow in God's love. When these goals are achieved, the learning process will occur naturally.
Teachers: 4 Year Old Class - Ms. Jeane Maier
3 Year Old Class - Ms. Christine Wilkinson
WELCOME TO FAITH LUTHERAN PRESCHOOL!
PARENT HANDBOOK
SCHEDULE: 3 year old classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday beginning after Labor Day. 4 year old classes meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday beginning after Labor Day. Morning classes run from 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Afternoon classes run from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
CALENDAR YEAR: Our preschool calendar will follow that of the Kankakee Valley School District's, with the exceptions of teacher in-service days. A school delay policy will be handed out at our Open House.
AGE REQUIREMENT: 4 year old class - child must be 4 years old by July 1st of current year, who will be attending kindergarten the following year and must be completely toilet trained. 3 year old class - child must be 3 years old by July 1st of the current year and must be completely toilet trained.
SNACK: A snack and juice necklace will be sent home starting the first day of school. When it is your child's turn to wear the necklace home, he/she will need to bring either snack or juice for the following scheduled class day. The "Snack Children" will help put out the napkins and cups, etc... A snack schedule will also be sent home monthly. We recommend juice or milk and foods that are low in fats and sugars. Of course, for birthdays and parties, cupcakes and cookies are always welcome! We will try to schedule your child as a snack helper on, or as near as possible, to his/her birthday.
CLASSROOM HELPERS: Each child will have the opportunity to be a class helper. Some tasks of the helpers may be: line leader, flag holder, calendar and weather reporter, and our snack helpers. Not every child can help with every task everyday. If your child comes home disappointed because he or she did not get to help, please assure them that at school everyone gets a turn.
CLOTHING: We suggest it might be best to dress your child as comfortable as possible. They are often on the floor, painting, cooking, and doing many other activities that can become a little messy. Play shoes should also be worn. We will be doing a lot of movement activities inside, and out.
TOYS FROM HOME: We ask that personal toys be left at home unless it is a special show-and-tell day. It has been our experience that often items brought to school get lost or broken.
BIRTHDAYS: One of the best parts about school is that everyone gets to celebrate their birthday. Children just love celebrating their birthday at school with their friends. Parents are invited to bring in a special snack that day, although this is not required.
CALENDARS: We will send calendars home every month to help keep you keep informed on the special events and happenings at the preschool. Please keep the calendars handy so your child doesn't miss out on anything. Newsletters will also be handed out throughout the school year.
PAYMENT POLICY: All monthly tuitions are due by the 1st of each month. Please note: If any payments are made after the 10th of the month, a $5.00 fee will be added for each week it is overdue. Please try your best to get all payments in on time.
Tuition: 4 year old class - $80.00 per month
3 year old class - $65.00 per month
Registration Fee: $25.00 (non-refundable)
The first payment due at registration will serve as May 2010's tuition (non-refundable). Tuition is due in full each month, regardless of your child's attendance.
OPEN DOOR POLICY: Please know that parents are welcome to visit the classroom at anytime. Faith Lutheran takes great pride in our program and professional staff. We love and value all our students and their families.
SICK POLICY: All children who have a fever should not attend school. If your child gets ill at school, you will be contacted and will need to pick him/her up. If your child develops a serious contagious illness (impetigo, pink eye, etc.), a doctor's note is required before returning.
SCHOOL BAGS: All children need to bring a school bag everyday. We recommend open topped canvas tote bags. They are much easier for the children to handle.
LIBRARY VISITS: Once a month, the 4 year old class visits the DeMotte Library. We encourage you to get a library card for your child so he/she may check out 2 books. It will be your responsibility to return your child's books to the library. For our 3 year old class,a librarian comes each month to visit our classroom, and reads a story to the children.
CHAPEL SERVICE: The 4 year old class attends chapel service on the first Wednesday of each month. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
