Faith Lutheran Church Voter's Meeting November 16, 2009

Preliminaries:

Jon Meyer called the meeting to order. See sign up sheet for voters in attendance. Pastor read from Psalm 93, a Psalm of praise. Tradition states that Christ prayed through all the Psalms while He was on the cross. Although the cross was a time of terrible suffering, it was also a time of victory over sin and death. We can praise God and know that He reigns both when things are going well and when we are facing difficult times. Karen read the minutes of the September 21, 2009 meeting. Ernie Manns made a motion to accept the minutes. Allen Miller seconded the motion. Motion carried

Treasurer report:

Tom Steiner reported that current bank balance of cash on hand is approximately $9000.00

Elders report:

Dale Halaburt reported that the shepherding program will start soon with each elder calling on approximate 20 families on a monthly basis to address any needs or questions that a family may be having. The establishing of Saturday evening services which had been discussed has been place on hold at this time. The elders were be conducting the opening and closing exercises for the Sunday school until a volunteer comes forward to do this. Pastor will be on vacation Dec. 27 and Jan 3, with Dale Halaburt conducting the service on Dec. 27 and Pastor Thoelke will conduct service on Jan. 3. Pastor Thoelke will also conduct the Jan. 17 service when Pastor Raebel is on retreat. The next elder's meeting will be December 19.
A CD has been purchased from Concordia which included all the hymns in the hymnal played by the Fort Wayne Seminary organist. This will be used for the advent services with the elders running the CD. This may replace the hired organist, and the organist, currently contracted for the rest of the year when Micah is not available, may be asked to play the piano instead.
More mugs are to be ordered for first time guests. Purchasing travels mugs is being considered. Ray mad a motion to accept the Elder's report. Ernie seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Trustee report:

Dave Axtell reported that a few small projects are ongoing--fixing a leak in the preschool, and closing off the attic. The windows in the Sunday school room doors have been installed. For the record, let it be noted that if any walls are ever torn down and there are Bible verses written on them, these are to be saved, as this occurred during the building of the church and has historical value as favorite Scripture texts were written and signed. Larry made a motion to accept the trustee report. Allen seconded it. Motion carried.
