Small Group Experience
By Sandra SteinlageWhen I first joined I often felt like I wanted to skip going to my small group get together. I was busy and stretched out with so many things going on I wondered how I could possibly fit it all in to my hectic schedule. I learned that the devil was very much trying to stop me from going by putting all kinds of excuses into my head. Now, when it comes to doing a thing that will be pleasing to the Lord, no matter what it is, if my thoughts are negative, especially if my thoughts are negative, I do the opposite. That really makes Satan mad! Anyway, I did what the Lord says to do, “resist the devil and he will flee from you.” I resisted by going to small group. I never ever thought it was a waste of my time…As a matter of fact the small group became my life-line, my lasting and forever connection to fellow believers in my group and I am certain that each member of that group will agree with me!
We no longer meet as a group but we are always and forever connected in a way that I am sure would never happen outside the small group setting. We are brothers and sisters in Christ and we know it. If we never have an opportunity to be in another small group together it will not matter because we are forever together because of that group.
As a congregation of believers, we voted to become a church OF small groups instead of a church with small groups. Our strategy is to have every member in a small group experience. It is an excellent strategy. It is for everyone. The Lord tells us to love one another. We don’t do that like we should. We don’t even know a lot of our members. How can we love each other like Jesus loves us? Belonging to a small group, that’s how!
My granddaughter, when she was about three years old said, “Jammo, it’s not got so much to do with your head as it does with your heart!” How True!
Don’t be afraid of anything. God didn’t give us a spirit of fear. Join a small group. I promise you will be blessed by it!
Hey Mickey…Try it, you’ll like it!
