St. Paul's is enrolled in the Stephen Series, a distinctively Christian caring ministry in which clergy and laity work together to provide quality one-to-one care that meets the needs of people experiencing a wide range of life circumstances, situations and crises.
A Stephen Minister is a lay person selected, trained and supervised to provide effective Christian care to others. They participate in 50 hours of initial training, a 2 year commitment of one hour per week of care for a care receiver, and 2 meetings each month (5 hours total) for supervision and support. A Stephen minister provides confidential one-to-one ministry as a trained, caring Christian to other in their time of need. Their caring relationship for another person is arranged by leaders and is accepted by the Stephen Minister. Is is performed under the guidance and supervision of Stephen Ministry leaders. Our Stephen Ministers will serve all individuals in the greater Cheney area.
