Excerpts from President G. Orvick’s Nov. 15 Newsletter

Dear Co-workers:
What a lovely day for the 15th of November! It's a lovely day in God's Kingdom also where the peace and joy of the forgiveness of sins shines like the sun. The weather in the church militant may be a little cloudy, but God can turn the clouds into sunshine.
As I look around I am overwhelmed by all the work that the pastors , teachers, boards and committees are doing. Evangelism seminars are being conducted, new sites for home missions are being explored, a World Mission Conference was just completed in Lima, Peru, and Bethany College and Seminary are hard at work teaching God's young people and preparing future pastors.
Some of our pastors have accepted calls to new locations. Rev. Joseph Abrahamson has accepted the call to the Oklee,MN, parish and will be installed on Dec. 2nd. Rev. Aaron Hamilton has accepted the call to West Jordan, Utah and will be installed on Dec. 9th. Rev. Greg Sahlstrom is holding the call to a new mission start in Claremont, Florida.
The Board of Trustees of our synod is concerned about our budget shortage. At the end of October we were $94,201.65 short of our budgetary needs. At its August meeting the Board passed the following resolution: "RESOLVED, that all categories of the 2002 budget be cut by 10% (including the Schwan Program funds)." The
boards of the synod will need to re-examine their budgets in light of this resolution. The Stewardship Board distributed envelopes and asked all to gather a special offering to help catch up.

You can use news postings (with or without images) to let people know exactly what's been happening at your church. A newsletter is great for those times you want to tell people what happened at a recent event, like a picnic or a softball game. Or you can tell your congregation about the latest meeting of the church leaders, or keep people up to date o the construction of a new building.
