Rev. Bruce J. Lieske, Founder |
Before entering full-time Christian ministry, Pastor Lieske was a research meteorologist in the field of polar micrometeorology, serving in Pt. Barrow, Alaska and Little America, Antarctica. After graduating from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Illinois in 1969, he served congregations in Philadelphia, PA, North Fond du Lac, WI, and Hampton, NJ.
While serving in the parish ministry he was given a special concern for the Jewish people, that they might hear the good news of the Savior. He was a founding member of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod's "Task Force on Jewish Missions," and is the Founder of Lutherans in Jewish Evangelism in 1981. He has authored several editions of Witnessing to Jewish People, and a book published by Concordia Publishing House, titled Harvest Waiting: Reaching Out to The Jewish People.
In October 1993 Rev. Lieske began full time evangelistic work with the Jewish people in the Florida-Georgia District, and was instrumental in establishing the Florida-Georgia District's first Gospel outreach to the Jews. This evangelistic ministry is now a branch of Lutherans in Jewish Evangelism (LIJE) and is called "LIJE/FL-GA" (formerly known as "Apple of His Eye/FL-GA"). Lutherans in Jewish Evangelism has one other branch, located in Michigan, which is known as "LIJE/Michigan."
Rev. Lieske and his wife, Ann, make their home in Orlando, Florida. They are members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Orlando. |
