Youth to Help Displaced Kids in the Gulf
25 youth and 5 adult chaperones from Trinity and other area churches will be helping displaced youth in Waveland and Bay St. Louis, Mississippi (Gulf Coast site one) affected by Hurricane Katrina in June of 2006. This is through Youthworks, the same organization that the mission trips to Mexico have been arranged with. We ask for your prayers that this will be a safe trip that will be a positive, meaningful, experience that will glorify the Lord.
Good Ole Southern Barbeque/ Silent Auction
A barbeque and silent auction to raise funds for the Gulf Coast mission trip will be held Sunday, April 2nd. The silent auction is from 5:30-6:15. The meal starts at 6:15 and entertainment is at 7:00. BBQ pork sandwiches, potato salad, chips, baby sweet corn, and bread pudding will be served. We’ve been getting some great items for the auction, so this is shaping up to be a great event for all. Cost for tickets is only $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children under 12. Matching funds are being provided by Thrivent Financial Chapter # 31132.
Easter Breakfast
The Easter breakfast will be held Easter Sunday immediately following the sunrise service. An egg bake with ham, juice, and milk will be served. Youth helping service are reminded to be at the church at 6:30 a.m. Funds from this will go to the youth fund to help support all youth activities.

Confirmation Youth Adopt a Child of Compassion
Our confirmation age youth in grades 6-8 will be sponsoring a four year old girl from Mexico as our child of Compassion. Leidy Sanchez Cruz was born August 26, 2000 and lives will her father and mother and three siblings. Her father is sometimes employed and Leidy’s mother maintains the home. Leidy works at home running errands. Leidy is not presently attending school. Playing house, playing with dolls and playing ball games are her favorite activities. She also attends Bible class regularly. Leidy lives in the mountainous community of Loma del Salitre, home to approximately 900 residents. It is northwest of Mexico City. A typical home is much like the ones our youth found in Juarez, consisting of a dirt floor, mud walls and tile roofs. The population of Leidy’s town is comprised of Mestizos (mixed native Central American and Spanish descent) and the language spoken is Spanish. Leidy’s diet consists of maize, beans, chicken, bread and rice (lots of beans and rice). Common health problems in her area include colds, gastrointestinal disorders and diabetes. Most adults in her town and area work as farmers and earn the equivalent of $113 per month. Our sponsorship allows the staff of Caminando con mi Amigo Senor Jesus Student Center to provide Leidy with Bible teaching, medical exams, nutritious meals, recreational activities, social events, tutoring and educational workshops. Thirty percent of the children in this project do not attend school because they are underage. The center also provides Leidy’s parents with counseling and conferences. Financially we are collecting loose change for Leidy each week in the change jar which will be located in the church narthex. We also have taken a special offering at the Sunday School Christmas Program to support her. It costs $28 a month for her support. Please remember Leidy in your prayers. Our love and support will help her to receive the assistance she needs to grow and develop.
