Stained Glass Ministry
Creating our own church art in memorial windows depicting the events of Scripture, we learn the artistic craft of making these beautiful windows.

The Martin Luther Window
The MARTIN LUTHER WINDOW reminds us that the church is one of WORD and SACREMENT. The significance of the word is depicted by Martin Luther in his classic pose with the Bible in his hand reminding us that the reformation was based on 'Scripture Alone', SOLA SCRIPTURA. Luther is standing on these 95 thesis which he posted on the castle-church door marking the birth of the reformation. Sacrement is represented by the chalice. The dove within the chalice signifies God's presence during Holy Communion.

The Martin Luther Window is given in memory of Juanita Beal by Carol and Barbara Beale, dedicated to the glory of God this 29th day of November, 1987.

Designed by: Stephen H. Hackney
Crafted by: Pastor Mike Varn, Barbara Beale, Jane Black, Gary Cline, Russ Fleming, Charles Mauney, Harrell Underwood

The HOLY COMFORTER WINDOW represents, with Christ as it's center, how Christ and His Holy Spirit comes to those who need comfort. There are four figures recieving His comfort:

The Lonely, upper right
Those Who Face Death, lower right
Those in Poverty and Starvation, lower left
Those in Conflict and War, upper left

The Holy Comforter Window is given in memory of charter member Lillian Louis Horsley by her daughters Lillian Louis Corriher, Mary Alice Stowe and her grandchildren, dedicated to the glory of God this 21st day of December, 1986.

The Holy Comforter Window

The Advent Window
The ADVENT WINDOW depicts John the Baptizer saying to the people who have come to be baptized by him in the River Jordan, "I baptize you with water for repentance, but one who is more powerful than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to carry His sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and fire." Matthew 3:11

The Advent Window is given in memory of James Harold Lineberger by by Alice Cason Lineberger, dedicated to the glory of God this 2nd Day of December, 1990.

Designed by: Stephen H. Hackney

The CHRISTMAS WINDOW depicts the poetic words from the first chapter of St. John: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things came into being through Him, and without Him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of all people. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. The word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen His Glory, and the Glory as of a Father's only Son, full of Grace and Truth." John 1:1-5, 14

The Christmas Window is given in memory of Pastor Eugene Franklin Helms by Charlotte Robinson Helms, dedicated to the glory of God this 23rd day of June, 1991.

The Epiphany Window
The EPIPHANY WINDOW shows Jesus calling His disciples and reminds us of our calling as His disciples. "I, therefore, a prisoner in the Lord beg you to lead a life worthy of the CALLING to which you have been CALLED, with all humility, and gentleness. With patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace." Ephesians 4:1-3 "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are CALLED according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

The Epiphany Window is given in memory of Lorene Watts Reed, James 'Papa' Watts, Lula Hope Watts, Lacy Watts Brown, Lucy Watts Brewer, Alva E. Watts, Walter S. Watts, and Marshall H. The LENTEN WINDOW depicts the line from the Apostles Creed, "He descended into Hell..." In the stark cadence of these words we confess that Christ destroyed the last enemy, death, and defeated Satan and evil in the victory of the cross. "Since, therefore, the children share flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared the same things, so that He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and free those who all thier lives were held in slavery by the fear of death." Hebrews 2:14-15

The Easter Window
The EASTER WINDOW shows the resurrected Jesus encountering "Cleopas and a companion on the road to Emmaus on that same day (Easter). Even though Jesus conversed with them for the remainder of the journey, the disciples did not recognize Him. Near the end of the day, Jesus accepted their invitation to eat, so He went to stay with them. When He was at the table with them, He took bread, blessed, and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight." Luke 24:13-35

The Easter Window is given in gratitude to the lives of Charles and Louise Hoyle by the Hoyle family this 26th day of March, 1995.
