LDR of GA was organized 1998 under the auspices of Lutheran Services of Georgia. Mr. Bob Tribble was the first statewide coordinator and remains as such. LS/GA is a recognized affiliate of Lutheran Disaster Response and stands in readiness to respond to any natural or man-made disasters in Georgia or assist "neighbors" in Region 9 of the ELCA. |

OUR SERVICES |
LDR/GA responds to Disasters, both natural and man made where there are survivors that need assistance after the RED CROSS, FEMA, SALVATION ARMY,and other state/federal organizations have stopped their responses. LDR/GA, through Lutheran Services of Georgia, Lutheran Disaster Response, and local congregations, can provide caseworkers, construction coordinators, and rebuilding volunteers to assist survivors after a disaster.

LDRTN / LDRGA DISASTER VAN |
The "Pickle" Is Packed! LDR/TN and LDR/GA have just equipped an early response van once effectionately called the "Pickle" by Williams-Henson residents (it's a 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 15 passenger van that is olive green). It will used to enter a disaster area early in the recovery process when basic things like debris removal and roof repair are primary. It will be a "shared" van of LDR/TN, LDR/GA, and the SE Conference of the UCC with whom both work in disasters. The SE Conference of the UCC (Will Rabert)has donated two 4000 watt electric generators for the Pickle. Bob Tribble has provided two chainsaws and John Sims another. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hixson, donated $500 toward equipment purchase and LDR provided a grant of $5,000 to help initially equip the vehicle and provide maintenance/gas in the first year. Larry Snyder (Ascension, Chattanooga church member)assisted in unpackaging and assembling all the equipment (believe it or not, the saw horses took the most time). Although LDR/GA had a previous disaster van, this is the first time LDR/TN will have such a vehicle. It's a great step forward in disaster-preparedness and being ready to help survivors before long term recovery efforts are organized! |

Prayer |
To Pray During Disasters: "Lord God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us, through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN." (LBW)
