This Year's Dates

Each Christmas Redeemer offers a special gift to the surrounding community. Since 1989 the congregation has presented a live nativity scene recreating the first Christmas as Jesus lay in the manger surrounded by animals and angels, shepherds and parents.
The scene includes Mary and Joseph, three Wise men, three shepherds, and an angel. Often a child angel and child shepherd complement the scene along with sheep and a donkey. The animals are a favorite part for the young viewers. This “city” congregation is challenged to find animals, but we have always had live animals as part of the scene.


Work starts each fall in planning the scene for the year. The men erect the stable the Sunday before Thanksgiving, and the weeks before the scene provide time for publicity, setting up the lights and preparing, repairing and arranging props. All the costumes, props, and structures have been made by congregational members.
We hope you will have the opportunity to view this beautiful scene of the first Christmas.
