United Evangelical Lutheran Church-Swiss Alp, Texas |
 Pastor Lemae Higgs |
White painted walls, bright red doors and red handrails mark the Swiss Alp United Lutheran Church Buildings reflecting their German heritage. The Congregation, a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America(ELCA)dates to an original log Church in 1869. The congregation began in 1867. The present building was dedicated in 1890 (the bell tower was rebuilt in the early 1940's), and as recently as the 1950's services were conducted in German. In 1997 the 130th Anniversary was observed, and to preserve the historical buildings the congregation raised funds for restoration purposes. The church is Located 10 miles North of Schulenburg off Hwy 77 on FM 3171. Services are at 9:15 a.m. each Sunday. Visitors are always welcome. | | | Childrens Christmas Program 2005 | The Christmas Program on December 24 is always attended by parents and grandparents and friends of the congregation. | YOUNG PEOPLE AT LUTHERHILL CAMP 2005 |
Many young people attending Camp Lutherhill each year have life changing experiences. Here Hannah and Maria pariticapate in an all camp activity. For many years now Swiss Alp Church has made it possible for all our young people to attend camp by giving each one a full scholarship to camp. Money from our 'Count Your Blessings' and from the Easter Breakfast, with matching funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, has made it possible for all our young people to attend camp for many years. |
