CHRISTIAN EDUCATION/CHILDREN’S CHURCH UPDATE
Our church has experienced declining enrollment in Sunday School over the past years, as have many congregations. Presently, we have a small group of younger children who are potentially able to participate in our Children’s Church, a program offered during worship, combining simple Bible teachings, games, and crafts. This is ably and enthusiastically led by Courtney Anderson. We would encourage any parents with young children to participate in worship and place their children in Children’s Church if they would like. The children return in time for Holy Communion on Communion Sundays, so that they may be blest by the Pastor.
At this point in time, we have three students in confirmation and no children enrolled in the traditional Sunday School program age. We are not offering Sunday School currently, but if any are interested in attending, we would very happily start it up again! Many thanks to Larry Burkhard and Laurie Jackson, among others, who have worked with our Sunday School over the years!
Children's Lessons during Worship
If you are interested in presenting the brief lesson during worship for our young children before they are sent off to enjoy Chidren's Church, please contact Pastor Susan. She'll give you the day's Bible lessons and sermon topic and you can take it from there!
Confirmation start-up Information
7th, 8th and 9th GRADE CONFIRMATION
Bethlehem, Emmanuel, and Knife River will again be working together to provide an instructive and engaging confirmation program. We will meet on Wednesday evenings.
If anyone is interested in being a Confirmation Huddle Guide, ---it’s a great way for a parent or adult mentor to keep in touch with their child’s faith development! Contact Pastor Susan for information.
For your Calendar: Confirmation Sunday will be announced soon.
Endowment Committee Scholarships for College
The Knife River Lutheran Church Endowment Fund has some limited scholarship monies available for college students who maintain a “C” average or above. Presently, we are able to give between $100-200 a semester to assist with incidentals or book costs. If you are interested in receiving a scholarship, please contact the Committee through Pastor Susan or chair-person Mabel Anderson. A written request with the inclusion of the most recent grades transcript available would be helpful. We would like to utilize this marvelous resource, so please apply, the sooner the better!
