Candles Needed!
This year the Sunday School teachers hope to help each child attending Sunday School make an advent wreath. In order to help make this possible, they are asking for donations of candles. Because there are 18 children in Sunday school, the wreaths will require 72 purple 6 tall inch candles (regular taper width). In addition, 18 white pillar candles are required. If you have unused candles the Sunday school children can have, please contact Vicky Gorman at 834-5797. She is also accepting cash donations to help purchase styrofoam bases and other supplies necessary for the wreaths. All donations are needed by November 26. Thank you!
Confirmation start-up Information
7th AND 8th GRADE CONFIRMATION
Bethlehem, Emmanuel, and Knife River will again be working together to provide an instructive and engaging confirmation program. We will meet on Wednesday evenings in a shared 7th & 8th grade Confirmation Program. Our confirmation program will begin with an orientation for parents and students on Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 6:30-7:30 at Emmanuel. This is for 7th and 8th grade students and their parents!
The first confirmation class will be on Wednesday, Oct. 4, starting with supper at 6:30 at Bethlehem, and class at 7:00 at Emmanuel! If anyone is interested in being a Confirmation Huddle Guide, there will be an orientation on Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 6:30-7:30 at Bethlehem---it’s a great way for a parent or adult mentor to keep in touch with their child’s faith development!
9th GRADE CONFIRMATION
9th grade Orientation and class scheduling is still being worked out. A letter will be sent to update you as soon as things are finalized.
For your Calendar: Confirmation Sunday will be January 21, 2007.
Endowment Committee Scholarships for College
The Knife River Lutheran Church Endowment Fund has some limited scholarship monies available for college students who maintain a “C” average or above. Presently, we are able to give between $100-200 a semester to assist with incidentals or book costs. If you are interested in receiving a scholarship, please contact the Committee through Pastor Susan or chair-person Mabel Anderson. A written request with the inclusion of the most recent grades transcript available would be helpful. We would like to utilize this marvelous resource, so please apply, the sooner the better!
