Fund raising was discussed. Gina has contacted the Chamber of Commerce regarding a date for a dinner for a fundraiser. James Hatfield is checking into prices for a caterer. It is estimated meal plates can be purchased for $4.50 and sold for $6.50. The dates available are October 11 and October 18. After much discussion it was decided Gina would check with the Knights of Columbus in La Grange and Schulenburg about using their facility. There was concern that people might not drive to Swiss Alp to pick up their meals. Gina will also check with the Episcopal Church about using their facility.

The Lenten appeal letter was discussed. Gina distributed a draft for everyone to review. She will be sending it out in the near future.

The Lenten Meal sponsored by the SALHF will be April 5, 2006. The following is a list of who will be bringing food and what they will bring:

Pastor Hildebrandt reported on the new website. He has received over 100 “hits” to date. The website contains the Annual Report, Minutes from the most recent meeting and a calendar. Placing information on past members on the website was discussed. Pastor Hildebrandt had been told the Library in Colorado County had entered the information for one of the Churches in that area. He had checked with the La Grange Library and found they did not have any information on the local Churches. Gina will talk to the Chamber of Commerce regarding search capabilities for the website. The question was asked about what information would be on the website. The information would be only on deceased members.

In the February 12, 2006 meeting it was brought to the attention of the Board that Pastor Hildebrandt was not an official member of the Board. The by-laws state the Board must consist of no less than three and no more than nine members. Wallace Brown moved that Pastor Hildebrandt be added to the Board for a term of three years, beginning January 2006 and ending January 2009. Les Koether seconded. Motion passed.

The next meeting will be June 6, 2006.

No further business to discuss Wallace Brown moved the meeting adjourn. Les Koether seconded. The meeting adjourned with all saying the Lord’s Prayer.

Respectfully submitted,

Sandra Smith
Secretary

A Lenten Appeal will be discussed at the next meeting. $130.00 was received from the Fayette County Choral which performed at the Swiss Alp Lutheran Church on December 2. A critique of the event determined that next year the group should be scheduled earlier so as not to conflict with Christmas activities and to allow time for more advertising.

Gina Minzenmeyer will prepare the Annual Report to be submitted for the Swiss Alp Lutheran Church Annual Meeting. She will include a list of Memorials, Honors and Gifts prepared by the Treasurer and explain each area and the different opportunities for donations to the Foundation.

Sandra Smith will prepare a press release for the local newspapers to make the public aware of the Foundation and the activities for the previous year. Board members will review the press release prior to its release.

Pastor Lemae reported that a Church in Hallettsville may be in need of repairs to its building, making it a possible candidate for assistance from the Foundation. She also reported that $1000.00 would provided paid ministers for the Sommerville Ministries Camp. Pastor Lemae will contact the Bishop to see if there are additional areas where the SALHF could provide assistance.

No further business to discuss Pastor Hildebrandt moved the meeting adjourn. James Hatfield seconded. The meeting adjourned with all praying the Lord’s Prayer.
