Worship is central in the life of FAITH, giving glory to God and letting God nuture us spiritually as Children of God and guide our mission and the many intentional ministries we have.We offer Christian Education for all ages, 3 yr. -- adult, including a class for those with developmnental challenges. The Confirmation program begins in the 7th grade. This year's "Summer Wednesday" intergenerational learning and fellowship begins Wednesday, July 12, and runs for four consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8PM, featuring drama with our "FAITHful Players", supper (bring a covered dish, chips, dessert, etc.), and adult discussion & children's experiential learning time. We encourage our children to attend camp each summer at Bear Creek, the camp sponsored by our Northeastern PA Synod of the ELCA.
We are Social Ministry minded at FAITH, supporting Lutheran Disaster Response, the Food Pantry at our sister congregation, St. Paul (Reading), "Love for Children" summer day camp sponsored by the West Berks Mission District, and we participate in "Relay for Life"--the annual 24-hr. fundraiser for cancer research, to name just a few ongoing ministries.
Choir rehearsal is Thursday at 7:30PM (late August - mid June) and is open to all. We celebrate the talents of instrumentalists and soloists and special groups.
We share the community Lenten worship leadership with Pennside Presbyterian Church and Trinity United Church of Christ. And for 34 years the four Mount Penn churches, including St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, have offered a special Carol Pilgrimage on a Sunday evening before Christmas.
We are also known in the community for our annual fall Pork & Sauerkraut dinner, Lasagna Dinner, Easter Breakfast prepared by the men of FAITH, the spring & fall Flea Markets sponsored by the Women of the ELCA at FAITH, and voting day lunches (we're next to the Borough Hall where Mt. Penn citizens come to vote).
We give thanks and glory to God for the fellowship and experience of God's love channeled to us and through us at FAITH! For more information about the congregation, Lutheran worship and theology, and membership, please contact the Pastor or the Church Office.
