Pastor Micah A. Ernst was born in August of 1957, to the son of August and Mildred Ernst, at Buffalo, Minnesota. He is the fourth child of seven; two sisters and 4 brothers. He attended Salem Lutheran Christian Day School at Loretto, Minnesota, to the 4th grade and finished his education at the public schools in Buffalo, Minnesota. Where he met a kind and caring person, Claudia Gutknecht, who assisted him in his education through the last 3 years until graduation in 1975.After high school he worked in construction for 5 years. On June 24th, 1979, Micah and Claudia were united in Holy Matrimony. Claudia, a graduate of Dr. Martin Luther College of New Ulm, Minnesota, taught school at Trinity Lutheran, Belle Plaine, Minnesota. Through much heartfelt prodding, the Lord truly directed Micah to continue his eductaion to study for the pastoral ministry.

Pastor Ernst went to Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minnesota, for the equivalent of 4 years. He then went to Mequon, Wisconsin, (WELS) for one year of Seminary training, finishing his education at Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary, Mankato, Minnesota (ELS). During those years Micah and Claudia were truly blessed with 4 wonderful children (Nathanael, Hannah, Ezekiel, and Sarah). Pastor Ernst vicared in northern Iowa in a five-point parish under the direction of Pastor Alf Merseth. After receiving the Divine Call to Peach Evangelical Lutheran (ELS) in Jefferson City, MO. Pastor and Claudia were blessed with 4 more gifted children (Christina, Joshua, Rachel, and Uriah). Pastor Ernst also served Grace Lutheran (WELS) in Columbia, MO. It was in 1999, the Lord led Pastor and Claudia to adopt their handicapped great nephew, Cody. The Lord has blessed the Ernst family in many wonderful ways! In 1999 he accepted the call to Deshler, Ohio, at another Peace Lutheran (Independent) for 3 years. Pastor, Claudia and family returned to Missoui for family reasons and tehn, received the Divine Call to once again serve Grace Lutheran (WELS) in Columbia, MO. Led by the Lord, he also started a mission congregation at Osage Beach, meeting in teh Stonecrest Mall basement, Beautiful Savior Lutheran (ELS) and accepted the Divine Call to be Vacancy pastor in Owensville, MO, at another Peace Lutheran (WELS). His love for the Lord's peace and forgiveness to reach out to others, with our Savior's grace, continues to motivate his ministry. |
