Mission
Our Statement of mission is:

“We are the body of Christ in this place and, as His children in all areas of our ministry in this community, we will strive to make Jesus smile.”

We believe the people of St. Philip are it’s ministers and, that when we leave this place of worship, we are entering our mission field.

We begin teaching this principal to our children at an early age. Our God’s Flock & Luther Kids as well as our LCY-Jr., and LCY-Sr. youth groups are involved in numerous mission programs such as collecting and distributing Christmas gifts to the underprivileged; taking Vacation Bible School each summer to an underprivileged neighborhood that would not ordinarily be able to have one; collecting school supplies, etc., as a mission project for underprivileged children during our own VBS; making special trips to area nursing homes visiting and singing for them; and the list goes on and on.

We have a very active Social Committee who have many projects serving the needs of Myrtle Beach’s homeless and our sick. Our Witness Board is very active as well. Our WELCA organization have three groups, a morning, an afternoon and an evening Book Club.

Other mission programs include assisting local efforts with Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous and support for SOS. The latter is a program for the poor that fills the gap in healthcare and welfare for the sick and the children in our community who no one else will assist.

Ministry & Programs
St. Philip’s location in the heart of Myrtle Beach provides a unique opportunity for ministry and mission throughout the city.St. Philip offers worship for all people and a wide range of programs designed to strengthen faith and serve the needs of people.

Educational programming is provided for all ages. We believe that learning about God and His love for us is a life-long journey. Our youth educational program is based upon Faith Inkubators, Faith Stepping Stones & Bible Song Sunday School: ministry programs which begin training from the cradle through high school, and actively involve parents with the training. Our adult classes offer a variety of curriculum and our Bible studies’ curriculum vary throughout the year.

St. Philip also has a Day Care and Kindergarten during the school year. For more information call, 449-4322.

Following the Gospel mandate that we are to love God and love our neighbor, St. Philip and it’s members are actively involved in our community’s mission programs. We have representative board members on the following boards: Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach, The Community Kitchen, and Mobile Meals of Myrtle Beach. Helping Hand is a crisis intervention agency providing food, help with utilities, and rent, as well as referrals to other agencies. The Community Kitchen is a year-round soup kitchen, serving all of Horry County, providing meals to the homeless and underprivileged. Mobile Meals provides home delivered meals five days a week to the disabled and/or seniors. We also lend support to the following agencies by providing volunteers and/or financial assistance: Mercy Hospice of Horry County, Coastal Samaritan Center, Tara Hall Boys Home, Myrtle Beach Campground Ministry, CASA (Citizens Against Spouse Abuse), Waccamaw Youth Center, and Caring for Kids. Our older youth have taken on as a Mission Service Project “Food in the Park”; making sandwiches and delivering them to the homeless on Saturdays!
