We just returned tonight from spending the last several days with people who carry the soul of the earth and her heartbeat in the palm of their hands. They are gentle, kind, wise, patient, and giving people who live amidst fields of grain and pastures of cattle. They have lived on their land and their land has lived through them for generations. The work of their hands and the deepness of their hearts can't be compared. Their faith and perseverance are short commodities in our world of haste and waste. The wheat that grows all around them will soon be engaged in its annual elegant waltz with its forever partner, the wind of the plains. Such is the balance of life in the loose grip of the bluffed landscape. Such are these people who live a rhythm of life in concert with God.
