Prayer Shawl Ministry
A Prayer Shawl Ministry has been started up at Calvary and it’s and exciting time! We knit/crochet for others who are going through difficult times. We attach a prayer as well as uplifting words to the shawl; and the shawl then serves as a reminder to the recipient of God’s love, comfort, compassion and support for them. It’s a reminder to them that God is there to five them strength and courage, something that is so easy to forget during dark times.

We are all Disciples of Christ in our world today, in our town, in our neighborhood, in our family. Christ wants us to comfort and help others just as He comforts and helps us. Through our Prayer Shawl Ministry we are doing exactly that. His comfort is overflowing to others through the prayer shawls we give out. What an exciting ministry!

And the prayer shawls don’t only have to be used in times of trials and troubles. They can also be given to those who are rejoicing; we are sharing their joy just as Christ shares in our joy. For example, a baby’s baptism is a very joyous occasion. What better time than this to give a prayer shawl (a small one since it is for the new, small Child of God) to the family as a reminder of God’s love as He has just welcomed the baby into His Kingdom….and the list can go on and on.
